This is just my thoughts as after we go thought a few things I will be saying my thoughts on his work, please do not judge me as this is my thoughts on him.
Martin Parr was born in 1952 and is a documentary photography that started in 1975 with a book’s about the western world wealth, as well as the classes in England. He wanted to be a documentary photographer which he still dose. The project that I will be looking at are:
- Rural communities, West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and Ireland, 1975–1982
- The working class, The Last Resort, 1982–1985
- The middle class, The Cost of Living (1987–1989)
- Global consumerism, Common Sense (1995–1999)
- Kovalam Beach
In total he has done 40 books solo photographic and 80 exhibitions. He is a member of Magnum Photos. Parr was brought to my attention when I was in Uni studying photography. I have never liked his style of photography as to me it looks like I could have done in my first year of uni, but I am just not a fan of the style he use at all which makes this a bit harder.
Rural communities, West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and Ireland, 1975–1982
As far as I can find out this is the first project that he has shoot. It is all about Methodist and Buddhist life’s in rural areas. This was when he moved to West Yorkshire. This is only in black and white as it was the celebratory look of the past as they where obliged to shoot in black and white. As colour film was with commercial and snapshot photography.
The working class, The Last Resort, 1982–1985
I have some where talked about this project but I can not remember where I put it. The thing about this is that it all looks like it is family style photos that you would do on a holiday. The only good thing about this work is the bright blues. This project was about his time in New Brighton as a kid with his parents..
The middle class, The Cost of Living (1987–1989)
Global consumerism, Common Sense (1995–1999)
All thought I have looked at some of his work over time from start to know. I still think that he is not that great of a photographer. As they all look like they are family photos, and there is nothing that people have not seen before.
If you like to know more about this photographer please do your own research. as these are my thoughts on this person
