Well, the best way to make these work together is to shoot in low light to start with so when you do it with a flash it freezes the moment that you are doing in the photo. you can also do this with slow shutter speed but you will still need a constant light and for the flash to capture the moment that you are still.
While every where else is moving. This is one thing about photography I like as you can play around with lighting and see what happens. This is something I would like to start doing which I might look into soon. I have a few things I would like to shoot but there is no rush to do it. As I can set this up in the future.
There are a few things you can do like paint with light. What I mean is take a touch in a blacked out space and then just shine the touch over what you like to shot on a very slow exposure. Also this is a fun thing to do as you can have something look out of place. I have done something like thes years ago and might do this again.
You can do what you like with your lights in the photos it is more of how you use them then what you are using. Like with cameras, you can have a phone give out top quility photos, but in truth it is more about the lighting then the camera. There is more coming in prat 4.
